On Monday, January 22nd, Dr. Julious Lawson named Superintendent of Zion Elementary School District 6 beginning July 1, 2024!

After a thorough selection process through the support of BWP & Associates, we are confident that Dr. Lawson brings the expertise, dedication, and leadership required to guide our district to new heights. He comes to us with 20+ years of experience. Dr. Lawson will be returning to Illinois from his current role as Ames Community School District Superintendent of Schools in Ames, Iowa. In addition he has served as the Chief of Schools for Chicago Public Schools (CPS), a position he has held since 2018.

Dr. Lawson has also served in a variety of academic roles including teacher, assistant principal, principal and Deputy Chief of Schools. In addition, he has led future administrative leaders as an adjunct professor at National Louis University for doctoral candidates in the school administration leadership program. Dr. Lawson is a recipient of the Mayor Rahm Emmanuel’s Principal Achievement Award in 2012 and the 2021 Men of Excellence Award.

Please join us in extending a warm welcome to Dr.Lawson. We look forward to a successful collaboration that will benefit our students, staff, and the entire Zion Elementary District 6 school community.
